Weekly Word : He Promised

A few weeks ago, I stumbled over a verse I realized we seldom remember :

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"
 -- Matthew 28 : 20

This was Jesus making a promise to His disciples - to us - that He would always be with us to the very end. Unfortunately, we don't seem to put this in mind & we let all kinds of issues rock our boat. We forget this precious promise & we walk through life as if unaccompanied, unfavored & beaten. If Jesus Himself has promised, there is no doubting it. It is said, "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" [Numbers 23 : ].
One of our biggest issues as children of God is that we forget our rights. When the devil sees this, he takes advantage of it. Jesus is with us, so why fret, worry or doubt? This should boost our faith, strengthen our zeal & help us keep our focus. Remember when the disciples were in a boat & Jesus was sleeping? What did Jesus tell them when they started to panic at the sight of the violent winds? HE said, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" [Mark 4 : 40]
When you know Jesus is in your boat, you'll understand there is no cause for alarm. In fact, Jesus was not just asleep in the boat but on a cushion [verse 38], meaning He was comfortable. Can you imagine? But we should be like Jesus & have faith no matter the storm. Instead of fearing & trembling, we should get comfortable because Jesus is in it with us...to the very end. Doing this is a sign of faith. If you have faith in God & trust in His word, then hold on to this promise because He has promised & He never goes back on His word.
Whatever the situation, rest assured & lean on Christ, who is ever with you. Fall back on Him & stay calm as He deals with it.

God bless you

  2. I like those verses A LOT. Thank you for this. The part about the cushion really made me smile. God really does have a sense of humor doesn't He? I like the way you related the cushion to being comfortable. It made me think about times I fret and wondered what it would have been like if I'd actually just been "comfortable" as you put it?

    Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed it!
