Letters Of Encouragement : Dream Big

It's no small thing to dream. We all have aspirations, goals & dreams...Sometimes, it becomes a very long list. However, most of the time, we barely conceive an idea in our minds before we abandon it after sizing it up against reality. Or we are so used to nursing some conceptions in our minds it would never cross our minds to make them a reality. So what is the purpose of dreaming?  To answer this question, let's remember that every project, concept, venture & scheme was first conceived in the depths of a certain mind. That's to say, everything ever undertook - whether it succeeded or failed - was first dreamt of. Nothing falls out of the sky. Our dreams are made up of our ambitions, hopes & desires and though many dream only a very few number of people actually see their dreams materialize.

We all know the popular phrase, "dream on..." - often pronounced when someone seems to be dreaming too big. In this society, the general idea is that sometimes our dreams can get too big to become real. When we become focused & ambitious, we are stepped on & told to settle for average or below; competition stalks at every corner; favoritism floods the system...in such an environment, how can dreams materialize? But to be real & honest, for you to become big & get where you've always aspired to, you're going to have to dream big. Truth is, to achieve anything in the physical, you are going to have to achieve it first in your mind. So if you are having trouble getting that college degree, getting that job, going on that humanitarian project, making that difference, being an inspiration, learning that skill, in your mind then you will have trouble with it in the real world. It's really that simple. This is because the mind is powerful, use it wisely - it can either be your greatest cheerleader or your number one detractor. Once your mind quits on something, it's near impossible to undertake that particular project.

But as a child of God, I know "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" [Philippians 4:13] - nothing is exempted. Once my mind is tuned, I know I can undertake whatever I please. Don't be afraid to dream big because of circumstances or what you perceive everyday & don't even let your past dictate what you can or can't do, dream big because it's from your dreams that you build your reality. As long as you know you can do it, nothing can stop you. Don't let anyone tell you what you can achieve or what you can't...You will only go as far as you believe you can. And lastly, pleaaaaase, do not let the fear of failure ever stop you or slow you down. You have to know that success is birth in the womb of failure. Nobody says you have to succeed in one go so don't worry about failing...it doesn't matter, it's how you get up & your reaction to it that matters. Don't fret about failing but be afraid not to try

Keep dreaming big ;)

  1. Wise words! I liked how you said 'it's from your dremas that you build your reality'. And the reminder that 'you will only go as far as you believe you can'. Your words reminded me a quote I saw some time ago: "I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I am more afraid at succeeding at things that don’t matter"

    Very inspirational!

    Thank you for sharing!
