Yoruba Word Of The Week : Ododo

Ododo --

Yoruba word for rose.

[Not to be confused with the truth. Both words have the same spelling but very different pronunciations]

Frequently used by men to describe their beloved partner even more than the flower itself, ododo is a word to be savored & relished.

The noun is : Ododo and a simple sentence : Ododo l'ewa (roses are beautiful)

  1. What a beautiful picture! :)

I love the fact that Yoruba has many words, that are spelled the same, pronounced different with different meanings. Yoruba is such a unique language.
