Soul Food : You Can

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength"

Philippians 4 : 13

Whether it be a new project, a relationship, studies or a passion, God is telling you, today that you can do it.
But how? That's the biggest question.
Accomplishing all these things means one thing : surrendering to God's power. We hear Philippians 4 : 13 often but do we really understand the underlying message? The truth of the matter is this : to accomplish anything for real, we need God.
This means, making the active decision to come to God and put whatever we are trying to do in His secure hands.
However, in order to succeed, there are a few things we need to follow when coming to God and putting our projects in His hands :

1. Approach God with faith. We need to come to God with faith because "with faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" [Hebrews 11 : 6]. There is no point to coming to God if you do not have faith in Him to do what you are coming to Him for.

2. Transparency. When coming to God, you need to be transparent. God does not take our issues in His own hands unless we give them to Him. He gives us the choice. Yes, He knows what we want & need but we need to communicate with Him because that's what a relationship is all about. When we do speak to Him, we need to lay it all down, not withholding anything as Matthew 7 : 7 says "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you"

3. Surrender to His will. When you come to God, you need to give everything up to Him 100%. You cannot hold on to even 1% because it's either God is in charge or not. You can't give Him part of the situation and do the rest as you please. That is not submission at all. When coming to God, come to Him in surrender, trusting He knows best & will do the very best concerning your situation as Jeremiah 29 : 11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you', declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'"

4. Don't try to figure God out or limit Him. Refrain from trying to figure how God will handle your situation or trying to tell Him how to handle it. We cannot figure God out or tell Him how to help us out because He's not our errand boy and what's more He's thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways neither; as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts [Isaiah 55 : 8 - 9]. Thinking God must/will do it this way or that is putting a limitation on what God can do.

5. Hard work. Even after putting your situation in God's hands, you just don't fold your hands...but keep on working physically, spiritually and continue praying(following steps 2-3). We also have our part to play. It is our preparation that will meet the opportunity that God has prepared and yield success.

6. Keep up the faith. Don't waiver but believe God is at work through you for the success of whatever you are working towards. Do not compromise or think you can "help yourself". Compromise does yield miracles neither does it give birth to success.

The biggest reason people give up or don't make it is because they don't properly apply Philippians 4 : 13 and totally give Him what they are working on accomplishing.

Give it all to good & He'll take care of the rest. However, nothing can replace hard work. Keep on working, both physically & spiritually & just watch God set you up for success.
