Soul Food : Wise Planning

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed"

Proverbs 16 : 3

How many times have we written out our plans & goals for the near or farther future? I can just hear you all shout back "well I do that all the time". True. We all do don't we? We jot down our little goals & give ourselves deadlines to meet just for optimal planning. However, how many times have our plans spiraled out of our grasp? How many times have our plans been affected by situations that we would never have been able to foresee?
The truth is, the best way to plan is not to mark down our dates & goals on our calendar, or set up little reminders & encouraging notes all over the house. The best way to plan is to plan with God. Our verse for the week says it clearly, "Commit to the LORD whatever you do". The 'whatever' is anything we have made up our mind to do, accomplish & undertake. No matter what it is. Why? so "your plans will succeed". God has the bigger picture, sees all, knows your beginning & ending, and knows what is best for you. Sometimes, the things that seem so right & great to us might just be the direct opposite. That's why we need to bring our plans to God & let Him guide us, correct us & perfect them. When we surrender our plans to God & let Him invade our schedule & deadlines, He will show us the right way to go or give us a go ahead concerning our plans. As Isaiah 45 : 2 says,  "I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron". When we give our plans into God's hands, He not only guides us and shows us the best paths to take but He also goes before us to clear the path & prepare everything for us so all we have to do is stroll through! The truth is, for 100% success concerning our plans, we need God. We have to submit to His will & agenda for our lives. Sometimes God leads us in ways we do not understand or even like but we have to have faith in God & let Him lead you because He only wants the very best for us as Jeremiah 29 : 11 says "'For I know the plans I have for you,'” declares the Lord, “'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'". One thing we fail to realize is : God only wants the best for us. If many Christians knew this truth, they'd stop fighting God's will & just let Him have His way. I don't understand why many want their way over God's. Who knows best? What is the point of your temporary pleasure if does not lead to anything? God wants us to prosper in every way. He does not want us to fail. But for this to happen, we have to be submissive, attentive & obedient. When we let go & let God, we are at peace (withstanding the circumstances around us), hopeful & confident that whatever happens, it's best for us & going to give God glory.
Dearest beloved, I don't know what your aspirations, dreams & goals are but I challenge you to give them to God. Turn to Him in prayer & verbally express your desire for His will to be done concerning all your plans & undertakings; let Him know you want Him to be 100& involved. Do this in faith. Have faith that He will do what He says He will do. Be attentive in prayer, the Word & your everyday life. God can speak through anything & by many means. Then when you hear from Him, don't harden your heart but rather obey. Ask Him to break your will & give you a heart that obeys Him fully. However, be Spiritually alert. Not every open door is from God. Be led of the Spirit continually instead of your emotions.
