Soul Food : Put On The Whole Armor

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes"

- Ephesians 6 : 11

Dearest beloved, this is our portion of scripture for this week and I pray this word meets you in peace and joy.

It is amazing how the Lord has been speaking to me about this through different means and it's been echoing over and over again in my spirit. I will not say I had never read this scripture until recently, in fact, I believe we are all more or less familiar with this scripture. However, the reality of it has just only dawned in me after God constantly kept ministering and re-ministering it to me.

To be honest, one of the biggest problems with Christians these days is that we play with our salvation and take our race as a joke. But this is no joke and our key verse illustrates this clearly.

Firstly, why do we need an armor? That is our first question. Many might say, "why do I need an armor, I am saved and isn't that the end of it?" The answer is no. We are constantly, running a race. The door for salvation has been opened through Jesus but we need to persevere to the very end to get it. The answer to the question is answered by brother Paul Himself : "So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground" [Ephesians 6 : 13]. This clearly tells us we need an armor to be able to stand. Therefore, this leads to one thing : we are fighting a war. Not everybody or anybody wears an armor. Only soldier, fighting in a war need them. And in like manner, we are also soldiers, fighting.

Secondly, what war are we fighting? In other words, who are fighting against? The truth of the matter is, as my Pastor said once, immediately we got saved, we enlisted into God's army. And we are constantly fighting but "not against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forced in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age" [Ephesians 6 : 12]. This is the reality of the Christian life. There is no middle ground or peace zone. Everyday is a battle and it's only by this armor we can stand, as brother Paul wrote.

Thirdly, how dispensable is this armor? As I stated earlier, only soldiers fighting in a war wear armors. But why? They wear them to protect themselves and fight. Therefore, if we are in a constant war and are soldiers, our armor becomes very indispensable. We cannot survive without it. There are arrows, spears, axes flying around. We cannot afford to be hit.
Now, what is this armor?

The armor is what forms the life of any Christian, shields, protect and give the ability to attack and leads to the survival of her/he's spiritual walk, keeping her/him in the race. Our race is real and it's not how we start that matters but how we end. Our whole armor, is a protection against "the wiles of the devil" [Ephesians 6:11] who doesn't want to see us saved or make the race. The devil is serious about this and so should we be serious about fighting and confronting him.

Let's get to know this armor :

- Helmet of salvation [Ephesians 6 : 17]
- Breastplate of righteousness [Ephesians 6 : 14]
- Belt of truth [Ephesians 6 : 14]
- Shoes of readiness (found in the gospel of peace) [Ephesians 6 : 15]
- Shield of faith [Ephesians 6 : 16]
- Sword of the Spirit (Word of God) [Ephesians 6 : 17]

This our day-to-day armor and in wearing it, there is no compromise ["Put on the full armor of God" Ephesians 6:11]. Each part of our spiritual body is important so we cannot afford to let one part of the helmet go.

Dearest beloved, the truth of the matter is - which the devil does not want any believer to acknowledge - is this is spiritual warfare we are in. Everyday is a battle and for the sake of the prize ahead, which is salvation (through Jesus) - we cannot afford to take it lightly. The devil comes through many forms, I believe we can all attest to that and he is not in the least cunning. He only comes to "steal, kill and destroy"  [John 10:10]. Jesus has already opened the door of salvation, and He is waiting with His arms wide open at the gates to invite us into eternity but it is up to us to run. And to run the race and persevere, we have to continually engage in this battle but to do so, we need our armor.
It is only by the grace of God that we can do all this, so do not hesitate - in fact do - ask God to help you put on this armor; to help you fight; to help you persevere in this race.

[God willing we will be taking an in depth look into each part of the armor]

May God help us to stand, put on the whole armor and still stand.

Thank you for stopping by! It really means a lot! Why don't you tell me what you think, ask a question if you have any or just show some love by leaving a comment? I would love to hear from you!
