Soul Food : Stand To Survive II

"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons."

- 1 Timothy 4 : 1

This is our verse this week.

This verse clearly applies to each and every one of us even in this last days. These are end times and if you have bot heard it or seen it, all kinds of doctrines are being preached, some are in the Bible, others are distorted and polluted versions while the rest just don't have any reference from the Bible at all!

The Spirit had already told brother Paul, who was telling Timothy his beloved brother in Christ, that in later times  many people will leave the faith - this faith we are holding on to, faith in God and His son Jesus Christ who gave His life to save us - and these people will follow deceiving Spirits and things not taught by the Spirit but by demons.

Now, to deceive is, according to the American Oxford dictionary, cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage...

The devil wants to deceive us, to move us away from the true word of God, the true gospel.
Those that the Spirit says will be deceived, according to brother Paul will abandon the faith...
The first question that came to my mind was,  do they abandon it willingly?
Well, no because they would have been deceived by false doctrines...that will be preached by, as brother goes on to say in verse "through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
So lesson number one : beware of hypocrites, especially in the Church of God. They are the ones that the devil will use to lure God's people away and make them abandon the faith.

The second question is, how come some will abandon and others not? I mean, the devil will try and deceive everyone, not one person more than the next.
Well, it all depends on our preparation for even Paul said "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." Ephesians 6 : 10 - 11.
It is now up to us to put on the whole armor of God and sand prepared. We have been given the Spirit, God's word and Jesus has our friend, brother and guide to stand. We have no excuse to stand against the schemes of the devil and his demons. It is clear that it is those that are not prepared, those that waver in their faith, those that are just Sunday-Sunday Christians, those that do not give themselves whole heartedly to Christ, those that love the world, those that run after the things of this world, those that do not fully follow God's word, they will be caught off guard and easily ensnared and deceived!

May that not be our portion in Jesus name!

Let's ask God to prepare us and give us the grace to stand because it is ONLY by His grace that we can stand to the very end for "If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened." Matthew 24 : 22

God richly bless you all!!
