Back 2 Basics : Keeping Your Hair Regimen Simple

source

For those of you that have been reading long enough, I think you would have caught the hint now that for me, simplicity is key. But I don't think this only applies to me, I believe every natural diva should follow this route. You can achieve great, healthy, hair and retain amazing lengths with a simple practices, basic habits and a straight forward hair regimen.

You don't have to complicate things and make everything so complex...Most of the time, when we make our hair regimens so complex, we fail to follow everything, fall behind and thus find our hair lacking in one  thing or the other.
The main goals of any natural for their hair can be achieved with basic hair regimens. Most of the time, we are led astray by an over loaded regimen and in the process, we sometimes get confused and fail to recognize what really works!!

So now, after drawing up a hair regimen (please refer to this post for more information), the question is, how do we keep our regimens simple?

● Try sticking to what works for your hair and your hair goals : Everyone has different hair needs and different hair goals, work with what gives the best result!

● Eliminate the excess : After testing out your new hair regimen, cross out everything you can do without. Excess treatments, unnecessary pampering only wastes time and money!

● Be realistic : Work with reality when you are drawing up your hair regimen. Instead of looking to what others are doing, look to yourself first. For example, before you decide to shampoo twice a week, ask yourself how many products you use daily; before deciding to co wash thrice a week, ask yourself how much moisture you hair gets daily; before deciding to do a protein treatment every month, ask yourself how much protein does your hair need...and so on!

● Avoid impulsive changes : Yes, please don't fix it if it aint broke! Do not try changing your regimen just because you want to think another natural's regimen will work better! Stick to it as long as it's working fine!

At the end of the day, you don't have to have a super complex hair regimen to get the results you need. If you are someone like me, that likes to stick to basics (to save not only time but also money), then don't dismay and do not succumb to the rumors that go round about natural hair being too time (or money) consuming! This is not necessarily true! As you go on in your natural hair journey, you may decide to add more goals to your already existent ones and then from there include other practices to your regimen.

This is the first in the Back 2 Basics series, stay tuned for more!

Do share your experiences, additions, suggestions and love!!

Stay blessed and keep it funky sisters!
